Orchestral works CD, BR-Klassik #47

BR-Klassik, CD cover

I’m intensely grateful to all at Musica Viva Munich: Winrich Hopp, Pia Steigerwald ❤️, Giovanni Michelini; to photographer Astrid Ackermann; all at BR-Klassik including Thomas Becker; recording producers: Jörg Moser, Clemens Deller, Wolfgang Schreiner; sound engineers Christiane Voitz, Winfried Messmer, Peter Urban, and to Christoph Stickel, legendary mastering engineer who brought it all together; most especially, the musicians of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra; conductors Ed Gardner, Frank Ollu and Christoph Poppen, and the extraordinary soloists: cellist Nicolas Altstaedt, flutist Carin Levine, didgeridoo master William Barton. So many people brought their magic to this album of my music spanning 2006-2024.

Various reviews are gathered on the Naxos website: https://www.naxos.com/Review/Detail/?catalogueid=900647&languageid=EN

In the lead up to the album release on 25 July, I had the pleasure of speaking with Raymond Bisha for his Naxos Classical podcast. He started this weekly podcast in 2005, a labour of love on top of his other work as Senior Vice President of Content and Partnerships for Naxos. Raymond was the epitome of gracious intelligence and kindness when I chatted to him and I was shocked and saddened to hear that he passed away just a couple of weeks ago on 5 August. It’s strange for me to listen now… like hearing voice mail from the past.
